HURALIKALINA SARU

Huralikalu means horse gram,rasam or saru ...where horsegram is used not only making rasam but also sambar & usli etc.... Spourted huralikalu is very healthy too,instead of making rasam or sambar you can make usli,means curry type too,normally when we make sambar with this we normally add some vegitables with it and prepare,it is very healthy & tasty too & one of tye karnataka dish which can be served with rice...

Ingrediants;

1 cup of hurali kalu or horsegram
1/4 cup of toor dal or little more
Salt for taste
1 small lemon size tamrind soaked in water
Jaggary 1 tbsp or as per taste

For grinding;

Grated coconut 1/4 cup + 1 tb sp
1 small or medium ladle full of cooked huralikalu
1&1/2 + little more rasam powder
Water as needed

Seasoining;
1 tsp of ghee
1 tsp of jeera
1 string of curry leaves

Method;

1. Cook huralikalu & toordal with sufficient water until soft.

2. In a blender blend the given things for grinding into smooth paste.

3. In a vessal take cooked dal & huralikalu & bring to boil now add grinded mixture & mix & add sufficiant water & bring to right consistancy & boil until raw smell dissappears.

4. Now add salt & jaggary & mix then add tamrind water & mix again and leave it to boil for few more minutes.

5. Now switch off the flame & do the seasoining & add it to rasam & mix.

6. Serve hot with rice.
