BENNE BISCUIT


                                                                ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ ಬಿಸ್ಕತ್ತು
Benne biscuit means butter cookies.this is very famous in iyengar's bakery in bengaluru as i know,may be in other places also..actually,i thought that this biscuit is prepared by using butter so....the name is butter biscuit or benne biskattu in kannada.but by reading some recipes in some blogs i got to know that for it's smooth texture  & melt in mouth for that purpose it is called in that name.but no sin of using butter also,some use butter to prepare this biscuit,as i know both butter,oil & dalda or vanaspathi is used,in bakeries normaly use oil or vanaspathi as i got to know.you can use any of these three.by using butter you get little crispyness & in oil you get melt in mouth & crispiness both & in dalda you get same like bakery taste..i got this recipe from one of the blog & tried,it came out very well & tasty.so let us start to bake....

Ingredients;
All purpose flour or maida 2 cups
Any cooking oil 3/4 cup
Fine sugar powdered 1&1/2 cup or little more or less as per taste
Pinch of salt
Baking or cooking soda 1/2 tsp ( or baking powder 3/4 tsp)

Method;
1. Pre heat the oven to 180 dig for 5-8 minutes

2. Grease a baking tray & sprinkle little flour & keep ready.

3. In a wide bowl cream both oil & sugar until creamy & sift flour,salt & soda into the oil & sugar mixture & mix well that everything should incorporate neatly,it should resemble like crumbs, but you should be able to hold & roll a ball from it.

4. Now start rolling medium size balls from the dough,keep it in your palms & slightly knead it & press little & arrange on the baking tray,leaving little gap in between

5. Bake in 180 dig cent., for 18-20 minutes or until done. ( oven temp., may vary in some ovens so check in between & bake ) .

6. After done let it stand in oven for another 15-20 minutes ( oven should be off) ( one more thing is after complete bake biscuits will be still soft but don't worry it will become hard after when it is cool completely).

7. After 15-20 minutes remove from oven & cool on a wire rack .

8. Store in airtight box.

9. If you like you can add pinch of nutmeg powder & cardamom or vanilla extract but,these are completely optional.
