URAD DAL


Urad dal is also called as uddina bele or black gram lentil where normally used as main ingredient in south indian breakfast like idli & dosa & also used for seasoning as i know,here i tried to prepare dal in kannada you can call it as bele kattu where we prepare togaribele kattu,hesarubele kattu....like toor dal masoor dal,.......like that i tried to prepare urad dal uddinabele kattu......actually i was doubting if it comes out nice or not & searched in web & felt relief becaz as we all know urad dal is sticky in nature when it is cooked ,ya here also when we make this dal it will be little stcky but its ok no
problem to eat & preparation is same as other dals & well goes with rice, roti,......so come let us have a note about this dal 😊


Ingrediants;

1 cup of urad dal or uddina bele or black gram
( wash & soak in water for 1/2 hr)

Seasoning;

1 tsp of ghee
1/2 tsp mustered seeds
1/2 tsp of jeera
Few curry leaves
1 medium tomato finely chopped
1 onion finely chopped ( optional) ( i have not added)
1 or 2 green chilli slitted
Salt as per taste
Sugar for taste
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala ( optional) ( i have not added)
1 tbsp of lemon juice
Coriender leaves for garnishing

Method;

1. Cook urad dall until done in a cooker adding sufficiant water & pinch of turmeric powder & little oil but it should not be too mushy.

2. Heat ghee in a pan & add all seasoning ingrediants & fry then add tomato & cook until done but not too soft then add cooked urad dal & add some water & make it to right consistency which is not too liqiuid or too thick .

3. Add other ingredients & mix well & leave it to boil for few minutes.

4. Remove and add lemon juice & garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot.
