CABBAGE SAMBAR


                                                           ಎಲೇ ಕೊಸಿನ ಹುಳಿ

Yele kosu means cabbage,this cabbage is used to make variety of dishes like curry etc.  here i have made sambar or gravy which is tasty & usually served with white rice.this is very simple recipe where you can use this recipe for preparing other vegetable sambar also.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup toordal
1 cup cabbage finely chopped

For grinding:
1/2 cup grated coconut
1 tbsp coriander seeds
1/2 tbsp chana dal
1/2 tsp jeera
Little methi seeds
5-6 red chillies or as per spice

Others:
Salt as needed
Jaggery 1 tbsp
Tamarind pulp 1 tsp

For seasoning;
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
Curry leaves few
1 broken dry red chilli

Method;
1. Cook cabbage with toordal with sufficient water in cooker.

2. Dry roast things given under grinding.cool & grind to smooth paste.

3. Bring cooked cabbage & dal to boil & add grinded mixture & mix & leave to boil for few minutes & add salt,jaggery & tamarind pulp & mix well & boil for another 2-3 minutes until nice aroma comes.

4. Remove from flame,make seasoning & add to sambar & mix.

5. Serve hot with rice.
