As the name itself says it is very simple Rasam,but very tasty rasam,where freshly grounded masala
is used.in Rasam you can prepare many types like plain rasam,jeera rasam,pepper rasam & ginger rasam etc..these rasams can be served with plain rice or you can serve it as refreshing soup also.i have
tried some rasams so i was thinking to make little different so while i was searching i got this recipe
in one of the cooking blog so......
Things used
Toor dal 1/4 to 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Tomato 1 medium finely chopped
Curry leaves
Tamarind 1 small lemon size soaked in water
Salt as per taste
Jaggery for taste
For tadka
1 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp mustered seeds
1 tsp jeera
For masala powder
1 tsp dhaniya seeds
1 tsp jeera
1/3 tsp black pepper
4-5 or as per spicy red chillies
(Dry roast every thing & grind to smooth powder)
Method
Cook toor dal by adding turmeric until soft & mash it & kee
Roast all things given under masala & grind to powder
Heat ghee in a vessel & add mustered seeds,jeera & curry leaves,then add chopped tomatoes & fry for few minutes & add cooked dal & masala powder & mix live it boil for few minutes then add tamarind water,salt & jaggery & boil for few more minutes or until fine aroma comes out.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve hot.
