This is also one punjabi cuisine,in last post i posted punjabi vegetable pulao,so this is also very easy & tasty dal which can be served with plain rice or with any other rice dish as side.in this also we use very less ingredients,so why late let us start....:)
Things used
1cup toor dal
Salt
Turmeric powder pinch
1/4 cup chopped onion
1" grated ginger
Other things needed
1 tbsp ghee
Bay leaf 1
Green chilli 1or 2 slitted
Chopped tomato 1 medium
Chopped onion 1 small (optional) ( i have not used)
2 cloves
1 tsp jeera
Others
Salt as needed
Little jaggary ( optional)
Pinch of hing
Red chilli powder 1 tsp ( as per spicy)
Garam masala 1/2 tsp
Kasuri methi 1/2 tsp crushed
Lemon or amchur powder ( optional) 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Butter 1 tsp
Method
1. Pressure cook dal with onion & ginger & turmeric powder until it is soft & mushy
2. In a pan heat ghee & add jeera,bay leaf,cloves& green chilli slitted & hing & fry
3. Then add chopped onion ( if adding) & fry until transparent
4.then add chopped tomatoes & fry until soft
5. Now add salt,jaggary,red chilli powder,garam masala & fry
6. Add all these things to cooked & mashed dal & mix & bring to boil
7. Now add butter
8. Remove from flame
8. Add crushed kasuri methi & mix
9. Garnish with coriander leaves
10. Serve hot with rice or as side with any other rice dish.
