Huli avalakki or gojjuavalakki is from karnataka,( ಗೊಜ್ಜುಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ ) ,it is mixture of spicy,tannginess & sweet,normally we prepare by making hunasehannina gojju ,& then poha is powdered & mixed to it,& that gojju u can also mix for rice ( later i will post hunasehannina gojju recipe) here today i have posted instant gojjuavalakki or huliavalakki recipe...this can be prepared within no time...,my mom used to prepare when we are young,from that i got to know,here it is....
Ingredients
1 cup poha
1 small lemon sized tamarind soaked in water (. 1/4 cup or little more)
Salt
Sugar 1 tsp ( you can add powdered jaggary)
1 tbsp rasam powder ( as per spicy)
For seasoning
Oil 2 tbsp
Mustered seeds 1 tsp
Dry red chillies 2 broken
Curry leaves
Peanuts 1/4 cup
Dry copra 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup ( powdered)
Hing pinch
Turmeric powder pinch
Method
Make coarse powder of poha,
Soak tamarind & keep
In a wide bowl take coarsely powdered poha or avalakki & add salt,sugar or jaggary,rasam powder & mix well then add tamrind water & mix well if it is too dry sprinkle little water (not more water then lumps will form) live it on countertop for few minutes or until poha is soaked & become soft enough.
In a pan heat oil,add ingredients given under seasoning except copra & fry until golden brown,then remove pan from fire & mix soaked poha mixture & mix throughly,check salt,lastly add grated dry copra (onna kobbari) & mix,live it for few minutes & mix again.
Serve.
