ಉಪ್ಪಿಟ್ಟು or upma usually made by medium or bombay rava,may be in everones home will do this recipe this recipe is very easy,my cousin has kept name for upma that is ' lazy women's easy job' ha ha....in upma also u can prepare varieties like vegetable upma,onion upma,etc...here i have made avarekai upma which is my husband's favourite here it is...
Ingredients
1 cup medium or bombay or rice rava
1/2 to 3/4 cup cooked avarekai
For tempering
Oil 2 tbsp
Mustered seeds 1 tsp
Channa dal 1/2 tsp
Urad dal 1/2 tsp
Green chillies 5-6
Curry leaves 1 string
Black pepper coarsely grounded 1/2 tsp
Salt as needed
Sugar for taste
Lemon 1 medium
Grated coconut 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Water 1:2
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Method
Roast rava by adding 1/2 tsp ghee until nice aroma comes out keep aside
Cook avarekai in cooker & keep ready
In a pan heat oil and add all things given under tempering except lemon,coconut & coriander leaves
& fry until golden brown,then add water & live it to boiling,when it starts boiling add salt,sugar,black pepper & lemon juice & turmeric powder & mix well & live for boiling for few seconds then add
cooked avarekalu,& slowly add little by little rava & mix that their should not form any lumps,

Keep it closed in simmer for 5 minutes or until rava is fully cooked ( if it is not cooked properly sprinkle some hot water)
Remove from fire & mix again & add grated coconut & garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot with any pickle/curds/chutney
