Akki means rice idli,normally idli is served as breakfast in south Indian cusine,& from past days these idlies were prepared by using rice likenormal or idli rice but nowadays it hasprepared by using idli rava with urad dal,urad dal is common in both type of idli but ratio is different,and also now a days people are trying different ways of preparing idlies likepoha idli oats idli etc.,today i have tried to make idlies using idli rice,here if you don't have idli rice no worry you can use normal rice too.so now let us see the preparation of rice idlies......
Ingrediants:
1 cup urad dal
3 cups idli rice
1 fist of poha
Water for grinding
Salt as needed
Method;
1. Soak urad dal & rice seperetly for 4-5 hours & soak poha for 1/2 an hour before grinding.
2. Firstly grind urad dal & poha finely to smooth batter & keep aside.
3. Next grind soaked rice into fine coarse batter ( not complete smooth) & keep.
4. Now mix both batters finely & add salt & keep for fermentation over night.
5. Next day mix the batter & keep.
6. Now grease the idli plates & pour a ladle full of batter & steam for 15-20 minutes oruntil done.
7.when it it is slightly cool remove & serve with chutney or any side you like.
