MOR KALI

                                                                     ಮೊರ್ ಕಳಿ

Mor means buttermilk,actually mor word is from tamil,in kannada we call it as majjige,in hindi it is dahi...this dish is very simple & easy.made with very minimum ingredients.it is very tasty too & healthy because we use butter milk.this dish is prepared in my home town,& hardly i tasted it one or two times,& completely forgotten about this dish because in MLs house they were preparing itseems but after my marriage they din't or prepared & i did not taste it i don't remember,but in my mom's house she was not so fond of that & she was nit preparing,i tasted in my ajji's place long long ago when i was young,but yesterday one of my friend had posted this recipe and recalled my memory erased completely about this,thank you sumitra.so i thought to try today,because i have tasted but not tried.;-). Ya it came out very nice soft & spongy spongy texture & good taste.& here i did some variations while preparing.

Ingredients;
1/2 cup rice flour
1&1/2 cup of butter milk( little sour)
Salt

For seasoning;
Gingelly oil ( i used olive oil i think you can use any other oil)
1/2 tsp mustered seeds
1/2 tsp jeera
Curry leaves
Balakada menasinakai ( i used regular)2-3 broken
Pinch of hing

Method;
1. In a pan heat oil & make seasoning & keep ready.

2. In bowl take rice flor & butter milk & mix thoroughly that there should be no lumps.

3. Add seasoning & salt & mix well.

4. Take any round dish or cooker vessel  & grease it with little oil & pour tye batter & steam it in cooker or steamer or idli maker for 15-20 minutes or until done.

5. For doneness you can see glossy glossy & soft & spongy like texture.

6. Remove & keep it for complete cool.

7 after it is cool cut into desired shape & serve with any side dish like chutney ir majjige huli.

Notes;
1. This dish is usually,prepared in traditional way on stove top,but i wanted to try by steaming so i tried & it came out very well,you can adopt either this or that method.

2. Butter milk should not be too sour.

3. You can garnish it with grated coconut & coriander leaves.
