PADDU



Paddu,in kannada,paniyarum in tamil & gunthponglu in telgu or appe in maliyalum we call,this is made by rice & urad dal,this is like small dumplings or like idli,which is prepared in various ways,& bith spicy & sweet,or plain ,usually it will be crispy @ top & inside it is soft & served with any side dish,& also it is prepared in separate tava called paddu tava....
Ingredients

2 cups of raw rice or parboiled rice or you can use both as 1:1)
1 cup of urad dal
1/2 cup poha

Method

Soak rice & urad dal separately for 5-6 hrs,soak poha 1/2 hr before grinding.

Firstly grind urad dal with poha into a nice paste & then grind rice into nice paste & mix together nicely.keep it in warm place for fermenting up to over night.

Next day heat paddu tava & brush little oil & pour 1 spoon full of batter ( batter should be like idli batter) toneach hole & sprinkle some oil & cover & cook for few minutes & take out one by one & make upside down & cook another side till golden brown in colour.

Remove hot & serve with any side,i had served with bombay sagu.

Note:
For this batter you can make seasoning & can add onions,carrots,& make masala paddu.

By using this batter you can make soft idlies also
