Appams are kerala dish,these are very famous in kerala,served with vegetable stew,or avail,usually fermented batter by adding yeast is used,some add yeast & some not add,i was planning from somany days to prepare appams but forgetting to soak,yesterday also same thing happened,so i decided to prepare instant one,few days back i was searching for the recipe i got it no fermentation is required for this.,so i prepared everyone liked it,here it is......
Ingredients
1 cup raw rice
1/2 cup cooked rice
1/2 cup grated coconut
Salt
Eno fruit salt 1 tsp
Coconut water for grinding ( if available)
Otherwise normal water
Method
Soak rice over night
Next day morning,grind rice with cooked rice & grated coconut by adding coconut water ( optional) to little coarse paste & add salt & keep aside for 1/2 hr.then add eno fruit salt & mix immediately & start making appams.
Brush appam pan with little oil,& pour 1 small ladle of flour & hold the handle of the pan & turn around clock wise & anti clock wise that the batter spreads all over the pan evenly .
Cover & cook on medium flame until lightly brown.
Usually, appams will be thick in middle & thin on outer side.
Serve hot with any spicy sides & enjoy.
