GINGER RASAM


Friends don't get confused by photo,i made carrot rice & ginger rasam both but i took single picture,here today i am posting ginger rasam recipe,in next i will post carrot rice,both are very tasty dishes.ginger is also very healthy,it is useful when there is sore throat,cold,for gastric etc., some make ginger tea & drink. Here is the recipe..



      Ingredients: 

1/2 tspturmeric powder
60 gm (1/3 cup) toor dal1/2 tsp asafetida powder
2 tsp fresh ginger1 liter (4 cups) water
1 tsp pepper3 tsp salt
1 1 tsp cumin seedsuice of 1 1/2 or 2 limes, depending on size and individual preference
1 green chilli

  

Procedures

Step 1Wash the dal well and soak in water for 15 to 30 minutes.

Step 2Assemble the ginger, pepper, cumin, chili, turmeric and asafetida and grind to a fine paste in a grinder or a mortar and pestle.

Step 3Place the dal, the ground paste, water and salt and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles or until done. Alternatively cook in a saucepan until done, about 45 to 50 minutes.

Step 4Turn off the heat, put in the lime juice and serve hot.

Step 5Serves 6 to 8
Step 6Note:- Make sure you stir in the lime juice after you turn off the heat. Heating the soup with the lime in it will destroy most of the vitamin C.
