NELLIKAI THOKKU OR CHUTNEY ( instant)



 



Nelikai is also called as goose berry which is tangy & little bit bitterness,which is very healthy in nature.we prepare juice,chutney,thokku, rice,morabba which is dipped in sugar syrup and pickle too which is tasty,and served with rice,dosa,idli,curd Rice,this is instant thokku,usually in my SIL  home she prepares traditionally,next i will try to put that recipe.

Some health benefits of nellikai:

This is also called as Amla,it is used in medicine,it is source ofvitamin C,contains iron and calcium.it is good for hair growth ,slows down gray hair,good for sour throat,good for blood sugar,boosts immunity,etc.,


Ingrediants;

15- 20 nellikain cleaned and dried with cloth neatly,

Salt as needed

Mentya or fenugreek seeds 1 tbsp and 1/4 tbsp or little less or more ( you can adjust)

Green chillies 15 medium size ( adjust for your spaicy.taste)

Turmeric ( optional ).

Very little jaggary ( optional)

Seasoin2 to 3 tbsp or little more oil

Little less than 1tbsp mustered seeds

Asafoetida little


Method:

1.cut nelikai and keep ready.

2. Fry mentya or fenugreek seeds until golden brown and make it smooth powder and keep.

3. In a mixie jar take cut nellikai and add salt,jaggary,turmeric,green chillies,fenugreek seeds powder and grind into fine paste .

4. Heat oil in a pan add mustered seeds when it starts to crakels switch of the stove and add asafoetida.

5. Add this seasoining to thokku and mix.

6. Serve.
