Ambode this is one of tye Karnataka special snack which is made by using chanadal, you can call it as dal vada too,it is very easy, crispy & tasty.normally when we make majjige huli we prepare this ambode, with majjige huki it is very nice combination....
Ingredients
1 cup chanadal soaked in water overnight or 1-2 hrs
Things to be mixed with chanadal
Salt as needed
Finely chopped curry leaves
Finely chopped coriander leaves
1tbsp red chilli powder ( u can also use green chillies instead of red chilli powder)
1/4 cup finely chopped coconut
1 tbsp lemon juice ( optional)
Method
1. Soak chanadal in sufficient water over night or 1-2 hrs.
2. Pulse soaked chanadal until it resembles very coarse texture ( grains should be very small but not too smooth)( don't add any water to grind)
3. Take the grinded mixture in a bowl & add salt, red chilli powder or green chillies, coriander leaves & curry leaves, very little sugar for taste, lastly finely chopped coconut & lemon juice & mix well, here you should not add any water but mix throughly & keep.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a pan to deep fry.& make equal size of ball in the mixture & keep.
5. Now take one ball of mixture & keep on your oalms & press slightly & make flat small disc.
6. Deep fry by adding one by one ( you can fry 5-6 at one go if there is sufficient oil) until crisp & golden brown.
7. Remove & serve with any chutney or with majjige huli as i said.
