BRINJAL GOJJU OR GHOTSU


                                                                   ಬದನೆಕಾಯಿ ಗೊಜ್ಜು

This is one type of side dish served with idli,dosa,etc., this is kerala side dish,this is also prepared with other vegetables also.here i tried this for first time & it came out well.i served with rice.here is the recipe...
Ingredients

1/2 kg brinjal
Onion 2 or 1 big one
Tomato small 2 or big 1
Tamrind small medium lemon size
1/4 cup moong dal or green gram dal
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Curry leaves
Sambar powder 2-3 tsp
A pinch of hing
Salt as needed
Jaggary 1/2 tsp ( powdered)

Seasoning

Oil 1 tbsp
Mustered seeds 1 tsp
Red chilli 1-2 broken

Method

Cut brinjals,onions & tomatoes & keep ready.

Soak tamarind in water ( 1/2 cup)

Heat oil in a vessel & add mustered seeds & when it starts spluttering add curry leaves,hing & red chillies.fry then add onions & fry until it changes its colour,then add tomatoes then fry until it is soft,& then add cut brinjals & fry for few seconds & add tamarind water & mix & cook until it becomes soft ( not too soft) on medium flame,then add salt,jaggary & sambar powder & mix nicely.& keep for boiling for another 2-3 minutes & remove from flame.

Serve hot with rice,dosa,idli.....
